While you may not consider rugs a small or home based business need, and certainly not one that can boost your business, that may not necessarily be true.

Area rugs, in particular, can add a tremendous amount of credibility and class to your office, even if it’s in a corner of your dining room. And anything that makes your business look more professional has the potential to ultimately increase your sales. Using rugs to brighten a room, define a walkway, or serve as a room partition is not only smart, but it’s good for business as well.

You may think rugs are too expensive to take a chance on ruining them by using them in areas that customers frequent, but cheap rugs that can be replaced more readily than carpeting, linoleum or tile can actually save your business money in the long run.

Of course, you’ll want to choose rugs based on not only the size of the area to be covered, but by color and design as well. You certainly don’t want a flowery pink area rug in a room with clashing walls or paintings. Instead, choose more neutral colors for a professional atmosphere. And match them to your walls, furniture and artwork.

For instance, if your room is painted beige and your art includes modern, geometric designs, choose an area rug in browns, beiges, rusts, greens and other natural colors that include lines, borders and geometric shapes.

If your room is papered with a busy patterned wallpaper, choose a quieter rug that doesn’t compete with the pattern and that will coordinate nicely.

Rugs should complement your decor, not detract from it. And when used properly, rugs of all shapes and sizes can add flair, protection and personality to your office whether it’s in your home or in a brick and mortar building in the center of town.

Small business grants are helpful to both established businesses and those who are just starting out. If you’ve thought about adding more inventory, purchasing a new building, or even starting a new business, then you know what it’s like to be short on cash. If this has happened to you, you’ve probably wondered what your options were and how you were going to get through it.

If you’ve considered small business grants, you know how difficult it can be to find them. That’s why you need to visit BusinessGrants.org. They offer tons of different type grants for businesses all in one easy to use location.

Some of the grants have specific dollar amounts, while others may specific to a business or general in nature. BusinessGrants.org makes it easy to find the right grant for your business because they put them all in one spot. What better way to find them than on a page all together with descriptions and direct links to the grants?

Some of the grants listed are for small businesses that aren’t specifically worked online while others are for online small business owners. Some may be for a specific type of business while others may be more generic. No matter what type business you run, or what type grant you’re looking for, check out the options this site offers—and if there is one available—you can find it there.

I few years ago, I worked as a temporary administrative assistant in a local company that sold wholesale, custom labels for industrial use. While I tried repeatedly to encourage the owner of that company to take his business online, he didn’t see the value of Internet marketing. Today, I came across the Data Graphics Inc. website, and discovered that they offer the same service this still local business does… but they’re offering it worldwide via the Internet!

You—like that small business owner—may think that printing a custom label for military use, or commercial projects and applications, isn’t a big enough business to warrant a website, but I strongly disagree! Any business can benefit from marketing online. Whether it sells to local clients, or those thousands of miles away, providing product information, company data and pricing online makes a vendor much easier to do business with. And that’s what will keep him a step ahead of his competition.

It’s been awhile since I drove by that local label printer, but the last time I did he was still there… plugging away… printing enough labels to keep the business afloat, but not growing visibly. That doesn’t have to be the case when a business owner has the wisdom to use every marketing method at his or her disposal to find new customers. The Internet is only one of those methods, but it’s a highly profitable one, and one that should never be ignored or neglected.

Small Business Grants Do Exist

As business owners, we sometimes have a need for help when it comes to financing our businesses. If you need a lot of inventory or equipment you can’t afford, you may find yourself looking for a loan. The National Institute of Small Business Grants can help you find grant money instead of a high interest loan for your business.

If you’ve ever thought about looking for a business grant, you may have received negative feedback from friends and family. Some people say these loans don’t even exist, or that it’s way too difficult to get the funds you need. It’s possible the reason for this negativity is that they don’t understand what a business grant is and how it works. The National Institute of Small Business Grants, however, explains all you need to know about a business grant and how to apply.

When you have a clear understanding of what a business grant is, you may ask yourself why small business grants exist. One of the main reasons is to help small businesses succeed. If a business owner doesn’t have the money to finance his or her business, the business will close. This could result in loss of jobs, and certainly in loss of income for the owner. Small business grants were created in an effort to reduce the number of business failures.

There are, of course, disadvantages to grants. There is a detailed process to go through such as filling out paperwork, providing information the company needs before approving you, and verifying your data, but the upside is you don’t have to pay the money back.

There are many options when it comes finding grants online. One of the best is the National Institute of Small Business Grants. They have real grants that are available now. If this is something that could help your business, give it a shot. Leave us a comment and let us know how it goes!

If you’ve been on the Internet long, you probably realize how important your online reputation is. Whether you do business on the Web, or simply buy products on eBay and Amazon, your reputation is all that most people know about you.

And sometimes a misunderstanding occurs that brings defamation to your online reputation without you even being aware of it.

Online defamation can cause you to lose sales and website visitors, and can destroy the trust that others place in you and your products. But there’s a new, affordable service called Defamation Monitor that tracks what others are saying about you then sends you a report so you can respond to the negative comments quickly.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that this service is only necessary for large companies either. Companies of all sizes, even home based business and entrepreneurs, need this kind protection for their businesses.

If you’re working online, you need to know what others are saying about you–good, and especially, bad!–and this service can help you stay on top of the task. Your online reputation is your personal brand. Protect it at all costs.

I just found a site the A-Team would love! They sell Military Connectors from MIL-COM Components. I thought of the A-Team as soon as I saw this.

Their military connectors are exactly like something Hannibal, BA, Face and Murdock would use to create some imaginative and resourceful weapon to defeat their enemies. Don’t you agree?

Now, if you know me, you know I’m the biggest A-Team fan there is. I love that crazy show and hate it when I’m not at home to watch it every night. But do you realize that there hasn’t been a new show of the A-Team for nearly three decades? Still, today, I see this military connectors site and think… A-Team!

Wouldn’t you like your business to be branded that well? Me, too! So, how do we do that? By being consistent, just like the A-Team.

When you watched the A-Team in the 70′s and 80′s, you knew what every episode would contain… fighting (but no one got hurt)… laughter (mostly at Murdock)… cool guys (Hannibal and Face, of course!)… and victory (the good guys always won!). What could be better than that?

If you and I will do as well to brand ourselves and our businesses, we’ll see the same kind of success. Guaranteed. So plan for that. Decide what it is you want people to remember you for and begin today to make that your consistent marketing message – online and offline.

My message? I want you to think of me as helping you to build your business… one word at a time.â„¢

Won’t it be fun to say with Hannibal… I love it when a plan comes together!

Put Yourself in Your Place

You’ve probably heard about visualization. It’s a technique that has been around for awhile. The idea is that if you imagine yourself doing what you want to do, actually see yourself, in your mind’s eye, achieving your dream, then you will achieve that dream… you will reach that goal!

There was a study done a few years ago among two teams of professional basketball player wannabes. One team was told to spend a certain number of hours every day practicing on the court. They were to push their bodies to the limit and strive with all their might to be the best basketball players they could be.

The other team was told to do the same thing – to push their bodies to the limit and strive with all their might to be the best basketball players they could be – but only in their minds! They were told to sit in a comfortable chair for the same number of hours as those physically playing the game and imagine, or visualize, shooting the hoops and making every single shot!

When the study was completed, which team do you think actually improved their game the most? If you said the second team, you’re correct! Those who visualized their unending success were actually better at playing the game than those who had run the court and worked up a sweat!

Visualization is a powerful tool. And you can use it to reach your success. Here are some things to do today that will help you put yourself in your place – that place where all your dreams are realized and where you have achieved what you want – your ultimate dream of success!

• Write a press release describing the moment you reach your goal.

Just as you would write a PR when you actually reach your goal, write one now, just as if you had already achieved it! Include all the details, the who, what, where, when, why and especially the how. Be specific and write it as if it had already happened.

• Create a collage that represents what your life will be like when you are successful.

Use photographs, magazine pictures, drawings, clip art, or anything else you like to help you depict your dream world visually. Create an image of what your perfect life looks like. Glue it to poster board and mount it on the wall so you can see it every day.

• Make a list of the people you want to help when you achieve your success.

Determine who you will help (family members, friends, charitable organizations, etc.) and how you will help them (give them cash, donate your time, make an in-kind donation, work for/with them, etc,) once you have achieved success. Make it real by seeing it now!

• Describe a day in your life when you have become successful.

Maybe it will be something like… get up at 6:00 a.m. and to the gym, work out for an hour, read the newspaper, have breakfast with your family, return some phone calls, work for a few hours, volunteer at your child’s school, drive the carpool, coach your child’s soccer team, have dinner with your family, spend the evening relaxing with friends or taking in a movie. Whatever it is, make it your ideal day and see it happen in your mind.

• Sketch a picture of your ideal storefront/shop workspace.

Do you want a huge work area? A comfortable, quiet alcove? Need lots of light? How about some artwork on the walls? Whatever it is YOU want, sketch it out or cut photos from magazines and design the ideal workspace for when you’ve achieved your goal. Hang it on the wall near your desk and look at it often.

• List the clients you will have and how much revenue they will bring you when you’ve reached your goal.

Who is your ideal client? Write it down! How are they to work with? What do you like about them? How much business do they bring you each year? Write it down! make it happen by seeing it happen in your mind.

• Determine how you will reward yourself for your hard work.

Maybe you’d like a day of relaxation when you meet your quarterly goals, or a new outfit with shoes to match when you finish your peak sales period. Treat yourself to the ideal treat and see it happen. Imagine that you already have what you desire and it will become yours.

These are just a few ways that you can begin today to Put Yourself in Your Place… that perfect spot where you have achieved your success, where you have met your goals, where you have attained what you sought. see yourself already there and you will be that much closer to making your dream a reality!
