For someone with diabetes, like me, life insurance can be very expensive. And with my husband being 12 years older than me, our budget is hit twice as hard! But Advantage Term Life quoted life insurance for me starting at less than $25 a month. I’m impressed!

Like other insurance Websites, Advantage Term Life offers a free online quote form, but unlike other sites, their form pulls up quotes from several companies so you can compare rates then select the company you want to apply to.

And Advantage Term Life doesn’t discriminate against those with diabetes, smokers, or those who are overweight (and who isn’t?).

Anyway, if you’re looking for insurance, give them a try. I’m going to check with hubby and see which company he wants to go with, but so far these are the best life insurance rates I’ve found yet.

If you’re like me, when you begin searching for life insurance, or another something similar, you prefer a quick online quote to having an agent call and try to sell you something. There’s a site that will provide that very thing–and it’s free.

Advantage Term Life lets you enter some basic information like your name, birth date, and general health condition, along with the amount of insurance you’d like on their insurance quote page, then returns a list of several companies and their estimated monthly (or annual) payments for that insurance. I’ve tried similar insurance quote sites before and was very surprised at how easy this one was to use!

In addition, they offer quotes for smokers, and explains how smoking influences insurance rates, as well as mortgage coverage, key man and even groups. Some of these were terms I had never even seen mentioned on an insurance website. So, you can see, it’s a very informative and educational site.

Anyway, if this is something you’re looking for, Advantage Term Life is impressive. Take a look.

Website Review: Bruce Electric Company

The Bruce Electric Company website has a really cute little bee logo with B.E.E. for Bruce Electric Company on his hard hat. I like it! The site has a nice, clean design as well. Their navigation menu is a drop-down style but the buttons look 3-D so it’s a bit different effect than you normally see for drop-down menus.

Bruce Electric deals in refurbished electric equipment such as transformers, generators, etc. Looks like they have a pretty extensive product line, actually. I would never have thought about people buying this type of equipment used or refurbished, so I learned something new from the site.

They’ve been in business since 1972 and have a huge warehouse located in Lindenhurst, New York where they also offer rentals, testing, repairs and local deliveries of their electric products. If you’re in need of converters, generators, power processors or other electrical equipment, drop by Bruce Electric and see if they have can help.

Website Review

As a business writer, you need to be able to write on a variety of business topics, and for a multitude of business needs. Website reviews – your own or someone else’s – fall into that broad spectrum of writing needs, but aren’t often covered in writing lessons or articles.

Since we took a virtual detour this week and looked at a website that’s not even remotely related to writing for business, it seems to me that it might be good to add some site reviews to Quality Business Writing so you can:

• see how a site review can be written
• give us a chance to look at additional websites and analyze what they’re doing right – and wrong

So, keep your eyes open for website reviews on sites that catch my eye – whether in the business writing niche or not. And if you’d like to see your site review here, let me know and I’ll consider it.

Today, I came across another industrial site that I wanted to share, Boig and Hill, Inc. Catchy name, isn’t it? Again, this site is really off the beaten virtual path for me, but that’s okay, too… don’t you think? Let’s broaden our horizons

While I had never heard of Boig and Hill, though my husband probably has, I discovered from reading their site content that they have been – among other things – distributing Worcester valves, Worcester control valves and Worcester valve parts for over 100 years. (Apparently Worcester is a big name in valves and controls.) Being in business over 100 years is… wow. That’s an accomplishment in this day and age!

Boig and Hill has a well-laid out site, an online product catalog, and complete contact information, including a toll-free phone number and email address. In my limited experience with industrial companies online, this is definitely a plus. Many industries neglect to provide an email address for their customers – even though they have a website online. It’s nice to see a 100 year-old company that grasps the concept of doing business online. If I needed a valve for anything, this would be the site I’d choose. It’s clean-cut, well-thought out and obviously kept up to day. All in all, a nice site, I think.
