Building a successful online business can be a simple task, but it’s not something that should be entered into without planning. Too many Internet marketing wannabes, throw up a poorly designed website then wonder why they don’t get any visitors or sales. Online business is just that – a business. And treating your website like your business on the web will take you a long way toward meeting your financially goals.

Just as a business plan is important to a brick-and-mortar business, creating a valid ebusiness strategy before you begin building your online business is a critical aspect of your long-term success. Planning for your online business will help you focus your attention and efforts on what needs to be done in order to succeed and will help you see where you misstepped should something go haywire.

Planning should involve every aspect of your business web design including site navigation, payment options and more, as well as your financial goals and any other web strategy you find you need.

Since not everyone is adept at business planning, you may want to find someone to help. There are a number of online companies such as ECommercePartners.net who offer consulting for online businesses. Working with someone who knows how to set up a successful site is another big plus for your ebusiness success.

The idea is that you know what you want in advance of creating your site. That way, once your site goes live, you’ll be branding yourself and your company from day one. While some people may succeed with a hit-and-miss strategy for building their online businesses, those individuals are extremely rare. If you want to increase your chance of online success, make a plan for your business, implement that plan, and treat your website like a business. Your success may not be guaranteed… but it will be much more likely than to proceed in business without knowing in advance where you’re headed.

I just found a site the A-Team would love! They sell Military Connectors from MIL-COM Components. I thought of the A-Team as soon as I saw this.

Their military connectors are exactly like something Hannibal, BA, Face and Murdock would use to create some imaginative and resourceful weapon to defeat their enemies. Don’t you agree?

Now, if you know me, you know I’m the biggest A-Team fan there is. I love that crazy show and hate it when I’m not at home to watch it every night. But do you realize that there hasn’t been a new show of the A-Team for nearly three decades? Still, today, I see this military connectors site and think… A-Team!

Wouldn’t you like your business to be branded that well? Me, too! So, how do we do that? By being consistent, just like the A-Team.

When you watched the A-Team in the 70′s and 80′s, you knew what every episode would contain… fighting (but no one got hurt)… laughter (mostly at Murdock)… cool guys (Hannibal and Face, of course!)… and victory (the good guys always won!). What could be better than that?

If you and I will do as well to brand ourselves and our businesses, we’ll see the same kind of success. Guaranteed. So plan for that. Decide what it is you want people to remember you for and begin today to make that your consistent marketing message – online and offline.

My message? I want you to think of me as helping you to build your business… one word at a time.â„¢

Won’t it be fun to say with Hannibal… I love it when a plan comes together!

Put Yourself in Your Place

You’ve probably heard about visualization. It’s a technique that has been around for awhile. The idea is that if you imagine yourself doing what you want to do, actually see yourself, in your mind’s eye, achieving your dream, then you will achieve that dream… you will reach that goal!

There was a study done a few years ago among two teams of professional basketball player wannabes. One team was told to spend a certain number of hours every day practicing on the court. They were to push their bodies to the limit and strive with all their might to be the best basketball players they could be.

The other team was told to do the same thing – to push their bodies to the limit and strive with all their might to be the best basketball players they could be – but only in their minds! They were told to sit in a comfortable chair for the same number of hours as those physically playing the game and imagine, or visualize, shooting the hoops and making every single shot!

When the study was completed, which team do you think actually improved their game the most? If you said the second team, you’re correct! Those who visualized their unending success were actually better at playing the game than those who had run the court and worked up a sweat!

Visualization is a powerful tool. And you can use it to reach your success. Here are some things to do today that will help you put yourself in your place – that place where all your dreams are realized and where you have achieved what you want – your ultimate dream of success!

• Write a press release describing the moment you reach your goal.

Just as you would write a PR when you actually reach your goal, write one now, just as if you had already achieved it! Include all the details, the who, what, where, when, why and especially the how. Be specific and write it as if it had already happened.

• Create a collage that represents what your life will be like when you are successful.

Use photographs, magazine pictures, drawings, clip art, or anything else you like to help you depict your dream world visually. Create an image of what your perfect life looks like. Glue it to poster board and mount it on the wall so you can see it every day.

• Make a list of the people you want to help when you achieve your success.

Determine who you will help (family members, friends, charitable organizations, etc.) and how you will help them (give them cash, donate your time, make an in-kind donation, work for/with them, etc,) once you have achieved success. Make it real by seeing it now!

• Describe a day in your life when you have become successful.

Maybe it will be something like… get up at 6:00 a.m. and to the gym, work out for an hour, read the newspaper, have breakfast with your family, return some phone calls, work for a few hours, volunteer at your child’s school, drive the carpool, coach your child’s soccer team, have dinner with your family, spend the evening relaxing with friends or taking in a movie. Whatever it is, make it your ideal day and see it happen in your mind.

• Sketch a picture of your ideal storefront/shop workspace.

Do you want a huge work area? A comfortable, quiet alcove? Need lots of light? How about some artwork on the walls? Whatever it is YOU want, sketch it out or cut photos from magazines and design the ideal workspace for when you’ve achieved your goal. Hang it on the wall near your desk and look at it often.

• List the clients you will have and how much revenue they will bring you when you’ve reached your goal.

Who is your ideal client? Write it down! How are they to work with? What do you like about them? How much business do they bring you each year? Write it down! make it happen by seeing it happen in your mind.

• Determine how you will reward yourself for your hard work.

Maybe you’d like a day of relaxation when you meet your quarterly goals, or a new outfit with shoes to match when you finish your peak sales period. Treat yourself to the ideal treat and see it happen. Imagine that you already have what you desire and it will become yours.

These are just a few ways that you can begin today to Put Yourself in Your Place… that perfect spot where you have achieved your success, where you have met your goals, where you have attained what you sought. see yourself already there and you will be that much closer to making your dream a reality!

Do What You Love

One of the most important business tips I will ever offer you is to Do What You Love.

Sounds too simple, doesn’t it?

Too many of us, though, get so concerned about making MONEY that we will do anything just to “succeed.” I’ve read it from the experts and know it from personal experience, money is not the most important thing in life.

When you do what you love, you do it with passion and with drive. You put your heart into. It’s not a chore, it’s a joy. It’s not a job, it’s a BUSINESS. And that’s what we’re talking about… building a business.

So, take five minutes and consider YOUR business:

• Do you LOVE what you do?
• If not, what DO you love?
• And how can you make a business out of what you love?

Answering those three simple questions will start you quickly on the path to personal and financial success in a business of your own.
